Track of the Week: The History of Apple Pie – See You

2013 has got off to a terrific start, and what better way to commemorate that than bringing back the Track of the Week feature? Well, doubtlessly there are many but this will have to do. Of course you'll have heard the Bowie song, and be aware that Suede debuted a new track. And as much as both are worth your time it's more worth the space here to highlight a song that you could have missed that is as ace (if not better) than these news-grabbers.

Although not the only winner of the first week-and-a-bit of 2013, - see new songs by Sheffield's BLESSA and Seattle's Tullycraft - The History of Apple Pie are laying early claim to the year with their best single yet. 'See You' is the lead single from forthcoming album Out Of View (due Jan 28th) is a sugar-rush of a single that lives up to its bright cover art.

Like Taffy last year, THOAP's music could simplistically described as putting a new face to the best elements of past guitar pop. The choppy guitars blend 80's indiepop into Blur-esque melodic drive, whilst Steph leads some classic girl group vocals. It's a mixture of many of our favourite musical styles and given finishing flourishes that root it in the present. As you'd expect from music being covered here, the choruses are massive, and although the song pushes the four-and-a-half minute mark not a single moment is wasted.

Expect to see The History of Apple Pie take indiepop melodies into wider consciousness over the next 12 months.

Keep Pop Loud
