Missing In Action: Captain

Does anyone remember Captain? They were/are pretty ace and put out an album in 2005 that was called This Is Hazelville, was really listenable and included some brilliant singles called 'Frontline', 'Glorious' and 'Broke' (which you can listen to at their myspace). Last year in anticipation of their second album they released another brilliant single called 'Keep An Open Mind'. All was geared up for the album, which was due to be called Distraction, then.... nothing.

That was a year ago. No-one seems to have heard from them since. Their Wikipedia page suggests that they're still attached to EMI, yet there seems to be no mention of them on the EMI site. Other than that their wiki and website are worse than useless. Which if nothing else demonstrates the danger of signing to a major record label.

Does anyone have any idea where Captain and their second album are? Are they still together (their wiki and myspace imply so)? Have they been dropped (We guess so)? Will the second album ever come out?

Hi, It's Alex from Captain here...
Basically the story is we were dropped by EMI last July, everyone in the band started getting on with other projects and needed a break. The was much talk of what to do but a variety of factors meant that nothing has happened for the past year or so. We are all still great friends and starting to revisit the idea of releasing this (great) 2nd Album we've recorded. Shortly we'll be offering some previously unheard tracks as an incentive for signing up to our new mailing list and then take it from there. Thanks for caring and hopefully we can find a way to get this album out because we put a lot of time into it and would love the world to hear it.

It's such a tough climate and we wish the best to any bands struggling to survive right now!!!
Much love,
Alex from Captain.
